This program can replace any Windows editor. It starts very fast, although its features outclass any other editor that I previously had tried. Among its many features I would like to enumerate some of them: project based editing, FTP browser and uploader, file comparison, character mapping converter, multiple clipboards for storing copied data, spell checker.
UltraEdit32 can be used as a text editor, featuring syntax highlighting and code folding, but also as a hex editor. This means that you can view and modify absolutely any kind of file. The software is highly appreciated among programmers because of its flexibility. I've been using it for a few years now and I never was disappointed by it.
You should have no problem opening very large files because it uses a disk based editing design. This means that it won't load all the file into memory before allowing you to edit it, and improves loading time. Another feature which I found to be useful is 'Macro recording'. The user can define series of commands that may later be played back automatically to modify the file. Any of the program's functions can be associated with a hotkey through the 'Options' menu.
Pluses: Supports defining templates that can be used in any document and code formatting. Access to files is very easy through the integrated tree view browser. Also, the program supports quick function reference and autocomplete for some file types. You can use the UltraEdit Browser toolbar for quick access to program's features.
Drawbacks / flaws:
In conclusion: A versatile editing utility, which can be used by any kind of user. Try it and you'll fall in love with it.
